At SKCDC, we know that a child’s health plays a vital role in their ability to learn, grow, and thrive. That’s why we collaborate with many community partners to create a supportive environment for children and address the challenges they face.

Throughout February, we are proud to highlight our collaboration with the Waterville Community Dental Center and Children’s Oral Health Network of Maine as part of our “It Takes a Village” initiative.

The Children’s Oral Health Network of Maine (COHN) brings together many organizations and individuals across the state with a shared mission: ensuring all children in Maine can grow up free from preventable dental disease. One of the most impactful aspects of this initiative is its flexibility to provide dental services where children are—right at their Head Start centers!

Why is this important? Many children face barriers to accessing dental care, whether due to cost, transportation, or availability of providers. By bringing these services directly to our centers, we help ensure that children receive preventive dental care early, setting them up for a lifetime of healthy smiles.
