SKCDC is proud to be a partner program of the United Way.

United Way of Kennebec Valley is a nonprofit organization serving all 29 communities in Kennebec County. United Way partners with 49 local programs to provide a better quality of life for people experiencing emergencies, hardships and personal challenges in our communities. Since 1955, United Way of Kennebec Valley has been combining forces with Kennebec Valley nonprofits, businesses, government agencies and individual donors to address our area’s most pressing challenges.

In addition to the direct support the United Way provides, SKCDC also works together with the United Way on these initiatives:

Impact2032: is a driving movement that unites community members with a shared vision of 10-year goals in health, education and financial stability to accelerate change in Kennebec County. It is a deeply coordinated and collaborative effort, led by United Way of Kennebec Valley and driven by  community leaders from the business, nonprofit and government sectors.

Day of Caring: Every spring and fall, United Way partners with 25 local schools and programs, as well as many area businesses, to sponsor student Days of Caring. This annual event matches student volunteers with work projects at local sites in Kennebec Valley.

The Day of Caring program demonstrates that volunteering truly brings out the best in all of us. Students, local businesses and the United Way all work together to lend a helping hand. We are proud of our students and the community spirit they demonstrate through the program.
